Viva Sierra Gorda is an advocacy, philanthropy and technology transfer project of Earth Island Institute, providing international promotion, support and solidarity to grassroots organizations that work in and around the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve in Queretaro State in central Mexico.
We seek to raise awareness and participation from concerned global citizens, to bring to life the daily work and generosity of the rural mountain community to rescue their homelands and support innovation in all sectors to protect Mother Nature and bioregional security.
Viva Sierra Gorda began as a mother-daughter initiative in 2004 to help face the challenges facing the rural poverty communities and the valuable ecosystems and biodiversity of the Sierra Gorda bioregion in central Mexico.
